Im on my 2nd savage (both 86's) and both have been virtually problem-free. The only oil problem I have had is when I tripped over my oil pan in the driveway while doing a change. I've taken my bike(s) on a few long trips and the bike is not as accommodating in comfort or hauling as some others, but its damn-near perfect for my use. WD sums it up very well with his post further down the page.
